Spanish wines produced for the anniversary of the Russian Museum will appear in Russia. Major milestones deserve matching great wines. The line of wines produced for the fifth anniversary of the branch of the State Russian Museum in Malaga and the 125th anniversary of the State Russian Museum in Russia combines the brightness of Spain with the authenticity of Russian painting. The idea to release a limited edition for gifts to partners has grown into something more – the company LADOGA starts a large-scale import of these wines to Russia, and very soon they can be tasted in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Acquaintance with wine begins with the label. The tradition of decorating wine bottles with the works of famous artists was laid down at the beginning of the 20th century by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, which became one of the reasons for the incredible interest of
wine connoisseurs in the works of Château Mouton-Rothschild.

The label of each of the three wines in the collection of the Russian Museum is designed using recognizable masterpieces of painting, reflecting the historical context, solemnity and even sovereign spirit. The uniqueness of wines with great taste and high potential is also in the fact that the paintings depicted on the labels are presented in the Russian Museum, which gave official permission to use them. The content is just as amazing.

MALEVICH D.O. Sierras de Málaga/ Малевич, DO Сьеррас де Малага

The wine is dedicated to the genius of the Russian avant-garde, Kazimir Malevich, who defined the milestone in the development of world art of the 20th century with his creativity. The design used his painting “Athletes” (1930-1931).

The modern wine avant-garde of Spain is a dry white wine from Muscat with vines up to 75 years old, which are planted on steep mountain slopes in the vicinity of Malaga, using spontaneous fermentation and aging on the lees for up to 8 months. In the MONOPOL and LADOGA Wine wineries, the price for this wine will be about 3,000 rubles.

EMPERADOR D.O. Toro / Эмперадор DO ТОРО

The wine is dedicated to Nicholas II, who signed the Decree on the establishment of the first State Museum of Fine Arts in Russia. The painting used in the design is a portrait of Emperor Nicholas II, painted by the outstanding artist Ilya Repin.

Red wine from the Toro region is made from Tempranillo grapes from vines planted a little later than the portrait was painted, in 1900. This is one of the oldest Tempranillo vineyards in the world that has survived the phylloxera. Aged in oak barrel for 22 months. The volume of production is 2700 bottles per year. In the MONOPOL and LADOGA Wine wineries, the price for this wine will be about 7,000 rubles.

EKATERINA LA GRANDE D.O. Málaga / Екатерина Ла Гранде DO Малага

Dessert wine from the Malaga region is created from 90-year-old Moscatel Alexandria grape vines planted on the steep slopes of the mountains near Malaga. For the production of each bottle of 0.375 l, at least 10 kg of grapes are used. It is one of three wines that were served at the 2012 Nobel Prize Gala Dinner.

The wine is dedicated to Catherine II, whose reign was called the Age of Enlightenment and was marked by the flourishing of the arts. The painting used in the design is “The Legislator in the Temple of the Goddess of Justice”, a portrait of the Empress, painted by her contemporary, Dmitry Levitsky. Catherine had a special love for Spanish sweet wines from Malaga and even exempted them from import duties. A facsimile copy of this decree is enclosed in a gift box. About 3,000 bottles are expected to be delivered to Russia. In the
MONOPOL and LADOGA Wine wineries, the price for this wine will be about 3,500 rubles.

The project embodied two types of art – winemaking and painting. They are already interested in restaurants and tourist clusters in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
